Fit for the Community
The Stage is associated with fun nights and community gatherings, which make it the perfect venue for the Inspire Me Fitness evening programs. Looking to create a supportive and non-judgemental atmosphere with a focus on inclusivity, the programming and venue has turned those mundane workouts around, offering a dance club atmosphere for those feeling a little self-conscious about their body image or working out in a group setting. With the lights dimmed and the music pumping these sessions have become as much about bringing people together as it is about creating a sustainable fitness regime and weight loss program.
Just celebrating their one year anniversary, business and life partners Denise and Candyce Fowle’s slogan, “Fit-Fun-Fabulous” has become their mantra, as evidenced by a variety of cutting edge classes with something to suit everyone.
- dance based Zumba and Strong by Zumba classes
- Pound, where drumsticks are used to give you a rocking cardio based workout
- The gentler paced PiYo, which blends yoga and Pilates
- Relax, offering relaxation techniques and restorative stretching
The hardest decision to make is which class to take! To help ease this burden the classes have been made affordable, with drop in pricing, punch cards and monthly unlimited class passes on offer, so that you will not over exert the bank account.
Both Denise and Candyce started their fitness journeys with the need to lose weight and become healthier. Denise laughs, “My fitness journey began as a shy and awkward class attendee, so I totally understand the need to make every class fun and inviting. We really encourage participants to gain confidence in both their ability and themselves”. After a year of classes and shedding an impressive 100lbs, Denise became a licensed Zumba instructor and initially taught Candyce, persuading her to also qualify. They now both teach together and have encouraged others to train to become instructors.
Their business model is community focused, believing a healthy community starts with healthy citizens. A big part of their philosophy is giving back to the community and they encourage their members to become involved in raising funds for charity and taking part in local events. Their next group participation is the Coldest Night of the Year Walk taking place in Mission on February 24, 2018. The duo also teach voluntarily classes for groups including Mission Association for Community Living (MACL) and the Mission Friendship Centre and fundraise for local groups including school PAC groups, breast cancer awareness and the local food bank.
Their work has been recognized and the duo were nominated for the 2017 Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards where Inspire Me Fitness are in the final 3 for the Local Focus Award, which takes place on January 19, 2018.
