The Future Is Bright
Community Futures North Fraser have been part of the Mission business landscape since 1995, offering support, advice, training and loans to local entrepreneurs and companies; from individuals with the inception of an idea to those already operating an established business.
While the not-for-profit organization was originally formed as a conduit for small business to primarily offer loans through a federal government funding program, the team have become an integral part of the professional community, sitting on many committees and building strong relationships with groups including the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mission School District 75, local banks and credit unions and the Economic Development Office. As a result, their mandate has grown to include support and leadership efforts to encourage business growth, innovation and community development to maintain a healthy economic business environment on the north side of the Fraser River.
Executive Director, Allan Main puts his years of business experience to good use and regularly offers his skills in market research and cash flow projections to help business owners look at the long term viability of their project and scale their plans accordingly. Michele Blackwell, Business Analyst has a career in commercial lending and is adept at providing loans to qualified new and existing businesses.
You just have to glance around their boardroom to see the pride they take from the businesses they have been able to assist. Images of companies most will recognize line the walls, including Grab-A-Java Coffeehouse & Roasterie, Blackberry Kitchen, Wentings Cycle & Mountain Shop, Decode Escape Room, Hylee Training Stables and Evoke Wellness Centre. A strong testimony to the diverse range of products and services we have attracted and held in our community.
